FROM A VAN OPERATOR TO A SPECIAL HAULAGE SERVICE PROVIDER
A great deal of technical skills, imagination and experience by Karl Kerkeling were the basis of the foundation of the Karl Kerkeling transport company shortly after the world war II, which started off with a roadworthy lorry.
Ultimately, it was the offer from a Coesfeld-based supplier of building materials which made it possible for the company to occupy a niche within the transport sector. This predominantly included the transport of bricks and clinker i.e. of materials which have to be delivered and unloaded quickly and safely even in a difficult terrain.
Since then, our company has specialised in and concentrated on the transportation of construction materials. Starting with one lorry, our vehicle fleet now comprises more than 80 vehicles. The proprietor-lead company is managed by Erich Kerkeling in the second generation.
After completing their university studies Mr Kerkeling's two children are expected to join the company guaranteeing that the company will stay a family business for a third generation..In our company, much attention is paid to the training of young people: each year, on average two young trainees find an apprenticeship position within our commercial sector.
GERMANY, ITALY, SPAIN SPECIALISTS LIKE US ARE NEEDED ALL OVER
Today, articulated lorries, motor vehicles with trailers, flat bed trucks and various other special lorries make up our company's motor fleet. Among others, we have lorries which are capable of laying down roof tiles at a height of 26 metres.
It was in particular our ability to adapt perfectly to the complex requirements of the construction and construction material sectors by developing customised constructions and special solutions that made us into one of Germany's most renowned service providers in the sector..
It is not only national companies from the building industry, builder's merchants and engine builders who appreciate our logistic abilities: the line hauls to Spain and Italy are testament to our international competence which we have been demonstrating for some decades now. Thus for example, laminates, steel and machines are transported to these South-European countries while tiles, tessella, pottery and natural stone plates are brought to Germany.
Modern transport logistics is a highly complex subject. Reliability, timeliness and a high degree of flexibility are the characteristics that make up a successful company in our sector. Only those companies which continuously enhance their capabilities will remain successful.
To ensure the punctual delivery of goods and in order to offer an additional service to our customers, cargo can be stocked in our intermediate store.
